CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2011-2012
This season marks Jerome Summers' fifteenth and final one as Music Director of the International Symphony Orchestra. It also celebrates the formation of the Ontario Festival Symphony Orchestra, which will tour China into the New Year … under Jerome Summers, Music Director.
Monday, September 26th 2011 - 12:15PM - Trinity United Church, Toronto, Ontario Jerome Summers, clarinetist, performs chamber music with flutist Sharon Kahan and pianist Angela Park. Featured music by Rubtsov, Bizet, Dring, Rachmaninoff and Handel.
Friday, November 4th, 2011 - 9:00AM -- 12:00PM - McMorran Theatre, Port Huron, Michigan Jerome Summers conducts the International Symphony Orchestra in two Education Concerts for schools.
Monday, December 26th, 2011 - Sunday, January 8th, 2012 Jerome Summers conducts seven concerts in various centres in China (including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangjou, Suzhou, etc.) The programme, to be performed by the Ontario Festival Symphony Orchestra, Features music by leading Canadian and Chinese composers such as Godfrey Ridout, Ronald Royer, Michael Conway Baker and others. Soloists are Mary Elizabeth Brown (Concertmaster), violinist Conrad Chow (who will perform the famous 'Butterfly Lover's concerto), and Sharon Kahan (Celtic Flute).
Friday, January 20th, 2012 - 7:30PM - Imperial Theatre, Sarnia, Ontario Jerome Summers conducts the International Symphony Orchestra presentation of Fiddles & Kilts, featuring North American fiddle champion, Shane Cook and award winning step dancer, Tiffany Fewster. The concert will include music of Coates, Macmillan, and Mendelssohn.
Saturday, January 21st, 2012 - 7:30PM - McMorran Theatre, Port Huron, Michigan Jerome Summers conducts a repeat performance of Fiddles & Kilts
Friday, March 23rd, 2012 - 7:30PM - Imperial Theatre, Sarnia Ontario Jerome Summers conducts the International Symphony Orchestra in Behind the Scenes. A pops programme which features pianist Mark Payne performing famous piano works from the movies. Music includes 'Theme from The Apartment', 'On Golden Pond', 'Warsaw Concerto', and many others.
Saturday, March 24th, 2012 - 7:30PM - McMorran Theatre, Port Huron, Michigan Jerome Summers conducts a repeat performance of Behind the Scenes.
April 16th to April 19th - Grey County Kiwanis Music Festival (80th Anniversary) Jerome Summers returns to Owen Sound to adjudicate.
June 10th & June 12th, 2012 - Tifereth Israel Synagogue, San Diego, California Jerome Summers returns to guest-conduct the Tifereth Israel Orchestra in San Diego. The programme features Beethoven Symphony No. 6 (Pastoral), Vivaldi's Flute Concerto (La Notte) with soloist Sharon Kahan. Music of Smetana AND Glazunov completes the programme.
